Missing Children
No case is of greater concern or importance than a missing child. In this event that your child is missing, you should immediately search the home and area where the child was last seen. Solicit help in searching the area many times. When under stress, a parent or caretaker might overlook the child. Check with neighbors, friends, and all places in the immediate area.
If the child is not located, call 911 and we will dispatch officers to the area. There is no minimum time you have to wait before calling. Our officers will then respond to the area and organize a search of the home and the area. A full description of the child will be gathered by investigators at the scene and passed on to all the responders in the area to expedite the return of the child. This information is also passed on to our dispatchers so a preliminary missing persons report can be made.
Within two hours of the initial call, we are required to contact our dispatch center to enter the child into the NCIC national database for missing persons and the Emergency Management Agency will be notified to coordinate additional resources to assist in the search efforts.
